Maryland Center for Women in Computing Receives Program Funding From Microsoft, NCWIT

The Maryland Center for Women in Computing (MCWIC) has been awarded $10,000 by the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) and Microsoft Research to fund programs to engage female students in computer science.
The funding, which was awarded through the NCWIT Academic Alliance Seed Fund, will support five workshops for high school and undergraduate students to spark an interest in computing fields. The workshops will include hands-on activities involving web development, app development, Internet protection, graduate school applications, and job interview exercises.
MCWIC is supported in part by the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies.
