Biography:
Naomi Feldman is a professor in the Department of Linguistics with an appointment in the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies.
Her research applies methods from statistics, machine learning, and automatic speech recognition to explore how people learn and represent language structure. Feldman focuses on modeling the cognitive processes that support the perception and learning of speech sounds in complex linguistic environments and on developing computational strategies that facilitate language acquisition for both learners and clinicians.
